What is HealthyTap™?
HealthyTap™ is a water improving agent that enhances the taste and quality of your tap water. It consists of a filter bag (about the size of a tea bag) that contains ingredients which quickly remove chlorine. These ingredients also add trace minerals to your tap water and adjust the pH towards a more alkaline level.

Why use HealthyTap™?
HealthyTap™ gives you the ability to transform your ordinary tap water into water that tastes as good as high-dollar bottled water. The difference is that you can transform your tap water for about 2¢ per glass which compares to $4.00 to $8.00 per gallon for bottled water. HealthyTap™ also is very convenient in that you can drop several filter bags into your purse or shirt pocket and treat tap water wherever you are, whether at home, at work, or on vacation. Finally, HealthyTap™ eliminates the need to lug plastic water bottles from the store to your home. The added benefit is that our landfills will be spared from the need to dispose of empty plastic bottles.

What are the ingredients in HealthyTap™?
The major ingredients in the filter bag are mined in the pristine waters off the coast of Norway. The ingredient list consists of coralline algae, shell sand, chitosan (extracted from shrimp and shellfish), and an antioxidant preparation which contains calcium ascorbate (Vitamin C), acerola powder, dextrose, rose hip powder, rutin, and lemon oil.

How does HealthyTap™ improve tap water?
HealthyTap™ quickly removes both combined and free chlorine from your tap water. With the absence of chlorine, you will notice an improvement both in the taste and smell of your water. Some lab tests are showing that the HealthyTap™ ingredients can bind and remove up to 100% of e. coli, salmonella, and pseudomonas bacteria if the filter bag is left in the tap water for several hours, though more tests are needed. HealthyTap™ also releases trace amounts of minerals into your tap water such as magnesium and calcium.

How do I use HealthyTap™?
One package of HealthyTap™ contains 60 filter bags. Each filter bag can treat up to one gallon of tap water. Fill a gallon container with tap water and drop in one filter bag. Stir or shake the water for about five seconds, and then let the water sit uncovered for at least five minutes. The chlorine will be removed immediately. The longer you let the filter bag sit in the water, the more time it will have to release its antioxidant mix and bind up any pathogens lurking in the water. We suggest you let the pitcher sit in your refrigerator over night so that your family will have great tasting, chilled water the next morning. Do not let the filter bag sit in the water for longer than 16 hours.

Where do the ingredients come from?
The coralline algae (which is not the same thing as coral calcium) and the shell sand are harvested in the regulated waters off the coast of Norway. The algae come from ancient calcified beds and do not include living organisms. The antioxidant preparation is a high quality product manufactured in the European Union under GMP guidelines and is free of Genetically Modified Organisms. The raw material used to make chitosan comes from the frigid waters of the North Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean.

How can HealthyTap™ remove bacteria and heavy metals?
Chitosan is a natural polymer made from shrimp and other shellfish. It has the ability to bind up some pathogens and heavy metals. Some of the metals like mercury are formed into complexes that remain in the filter bag until it is discarded.

How is the chlorine removed?
The ingredients in the filter bag are effective against both free and combined chlorine. The chlorine is either driven off into the atmosphere or else it is converted to salts, ions, or hydrochloric acid (such as that which exists naturally in your stomach), etc.

Does HealthyTap™ affect the pH value of your tap water?
The HealthyTap™ ingredients tend to raise the pH value of your tap water. If your water is very acidic, HealthyTap™ might not be able to raise it all the way to an alkaline state. Still, any improvement in the pH level of your drinking water is beneficial to your health.
